Water Baptism

The Bible says that all professing Christians should be baptized (Matthew 28:18-20). Whether you've been following Jesus for a long time and never got baptized or are a new Christian, we would be honoured to baptize you!

What does the Bible say about baptism?

Our English word ‘baptize’ comes from the Greek word ‘baptizo’ which means to immerse or dip something in a liquid.
The Bible tells us several reasons why we as followers of Christ should be baptized in water:
Christ’s Example - Matthew 3:13-17
  • To fulfill all righteousness
  • To set a standard for His people to follow Jesus clearly showed us the manner or pattern to follow in baptism ~ Not as an infant (Luke 2:22) but by total immersion (Matthew 3:16)

Christ’s Commandment - Matthew 28:19-20
  • Jesus commands the church to make disciples of all the nations
  • Jesus taught in scriptures that we should make disciples baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

The Practice of the Disciples - John 4:1-3
It was the practice of the disciples to baptize in water all those who followed Jesus

How were people Baptized in the Bible days?

By being completely immersed in water. (Mark 1:5, 10) John the Baptist baptized people by immersing them right in the Jordan River. When Philip baptized the eunuch, “they both went down into the water…” (Acts 8:35-38)

In the New Testament the pattern was for people to…...(Acts 2:37-41)
  • Hear the gospel
  • Repent and believe
  • Be baptized in water

Water baptism took place upon conversion
  • Day of Pentecost (Acts 2:41)
  • Philip at Samaria (Acts 8:12)
  • The Ethiopian Eunuch (Acts 8:36-38)
  • The Apostle Paul (Acts 9:18)
  • Cornelius’ House (Acts 10:46-48)
